Like, the purpose of this article was more to discuss what characters could join the roster based on the premise that Super Smash Bros. for Switch was initially a port of the Wii U/3DS game, which would mean that all those characters would likely return.
That said, I’m aware things could be different and wouldn’t be surprised if certain characters don’t return, and I would be fine with that. I’m not going to lose sleep on it and will be happy with whatever we get.

I actually tried looking for those numbers but was having a hard time finding them, so I’m glad someone was around to correct me. Also, I’m happy to hear the second game did go over 1 million, that does give the series some extra value.

Yup, Phantasy Star has more connections to Nintendo than expected at first. I think there was also a DS game made by Sonic Team, if I recall correctly.

Probably still isn’t the type of series that Sakurai would consider, but was worth a mention.

The series did indeed get a few things in the last few years, but Metal Gear Survive had a rather negative reception, not to speak of what happened with Kojima. But hey, I will admit that I should have pondered that a bit better and there’s a decent chance Snake could return, but we will see what happens.

Nintendo platforms are still important, because all the 3rd Parties in the game so far were in a Nintendo platform to some degree, even Cloud. We should not forget that first and foremost Super Smash Bros. was conceived as a Nintendo All-Stars fighting game, we only really started to see 3rd Parties join in the last couple iterations, and even then most of them are pretty iconic characters that transcend the notion of platforms due to how popular they are to the gaming community as a whole. Comparatively, Snake and Metal Gear are still as iconic, just haven’t been doing as well as they could be doing. But this could just be my perspective, so I respect your opinion if you are more involved with that series in particular.

Not really, it got Metal Gear Survive, a movie, a concert, whatever relation it has with Death Stranding, etc.

If Nintendo platforms were so important then it should have stopped other third-party characters from appearing and focus on Nintendo characters instead. Not to mention Super Smash Bros was created by a third-party, not Nintendo.

As I see it, Federation Force is just a game set in the Prime universe that explains the type of activities and missions that the Galactic Federation is involved with.
Samus will likely make a small appearence, but I’m not sure how much it will relate to other parts of the story outside of Samus’ connection to the Space Pirates… :\
Besides, remember when Sakamoto basically removed the Prime games from the timeline with Other M? Yeah, that happened, so I don’t know if we can count this as part of the story anymore. XD

No; it’s not a very good image, but you have a point. It has merit to it, but the ‘older’ demographics should be targeted too, all of those people who grew up with Nintendo games are a decent market. Which I think would be important to them; but oh well, as you say, it’s the reality that we have to accept.

Yeah; I get what you’re saying, fair enough, but I just thought that way because the game is said to still be continuing story; that’s why I think it could be counted as a main storyline game. But still, you’re definitely right, everything you’ve said previously makes me contradict that statement, but I’ve still typed it anyway xD
Yeah; it will, it’ll probably be a rare game to get, because Nintendo anticipates low sales numbers, or it will be overstocked because they anticipate that the Metroid name will sell the crap out of the game.
