Glad you could make some sense out of it! XD
Yeah, all amiibo functionality is pretty straightforward I guess.
Yeah, we just keep waiting until something cool happens...
And sorry for the disapointing news, I didn't want another of these Mario vs. DK games again either... I didn't even play the others, they are boring and repetitive...

Thanks for explaining that; it makes alot more sense now.
and is quite a simple concept... I feel like I don't think too much when I write these comments. I suppose these breaks between writing can't be too bad for my head :3
That's essentially a comment for every amiibo functionality option; don't add much, but are a fun little addition.

I suppose that's what we have to with everything; just sit on our ass and wait :P
Random shit will happen; but hey, if it makes the wait better, I'm all for it.
Unless it's a spin off Mario vs. Donkey Kong game that uses amiibo as it's base... (this is why I wasn't expecting much; NST & Mario vs. DK)

It's not as complicated as it looks, let me try to explain... imagine it as three different stories that unfold after the choice on chapter 5/6... if Kamui picks Hoshido (Birthright), you will join them and fight against the Nohrian invanders, and only have access to the characters on the Hoshido side; if Kamui picks Nohr (Conquest), you join that side and will have to revolutionize that kingdom from inside, and only have access to the characters on the Nohr side; if Kamui picks neither side (Revelations), you try to break the conflict between both countries while unveilling various mysteries behind the main characters, and get to use all the characters from both sides; if Kamui picks Smash, he gets to fight some of the greatest icons in gaming history... oh, wait, that choice isn't in the actual game... :P
Basically, you can look at each path as its full game with 28 chapters, 14 paralogues (side chapters) and 7 xenologues so far (DLC chapters). If you get everything, you get 74 chapters, 22 paralogues and 7 xenologues (i think they might still release some cause the Witch and Ballista classes aren't available yet, but it wouldn't be the first time they put stuff in the game and don't use it after).
The amiibo's might not add much, but are a fun little element in the game, in my opinion.

I was just being real there... >_<'
I like games like Pullblox for example, I just don't think we need 3 of those in the same generations, you see?
I actually think an eShop game would be the perfect way to bring Panel de Pon back, while reviving Lip and the original fairy designs as characters. But lately IS is only about Fire Emblem, Paper Mario and weird attempts at games like Codename STEAM. o.0'
Guess I will just sit on my ass again and keep waiting for another decade or so... o_o

I meant an actual home console, without hybrid features. At max with a gamepad like controller.

The whole three-editions for Fire Emblem Fates confuses me. I understand that there are two sides, etc. but it's a weird thing for Nintendo, but then again if it's done with a good deal, who am I to question it.

good amiibo functionality gets me interested in a game as soon as it's mentioned :P

Great way to shoot me down there XD
I wasn't saying that all of their IP had to have new games every few 'cycles' (since saying every few years is a little too optimistic) - there is still a fair bit of IP that can be re-introduced in different ways. Maybe some eShop Shovelware every now and then isn't so bad :3
but either way, I don't know what I'm talking about, I'm just chucking you whatever comes into my head.
Well, as they always say, Good things come to those who wait. So Patience is definitely key when you want something like this... especially when it doesn't have a massive following, or much hope. :P

I still see a hybrid as primarily home console; cause I was definitely hoping for a hybrid console; even in that case, I still see Nintendo underutilising the handheld component. So looking at it realistically, it'd still be a home console... and I +1 everything you said there. xD

Of course, no one wants Nintendo to be the next Konami or EA... =_=

Let me tell you that I'm not thrilled with Fire Emblem Fates on that DLC regard. Instead of dividing the game in three parts and shoehorning children and face rubbing into the game for fan service purposes (which is not that bad and I still enjoy anyways), I wish they had kept all the story paths in the same game from the beginning like in the Special Edition. Or at least keep only Revelations for DLC. The problem is, Revelations is the definitive path where you can collect all characters from both sides and effectively the most "canon" path out of the possible three, and logically the one you would want to use for endgame purposes. So it's like you have the most essential part of the game locked into DLC territory or a Special Edition that will probably turn out difficult as hell to get outside of Japan, where they actually had to reprint it. That means that most people will end up buying Birthright or Conquest and then will have to shell out an extra 20 bucks for Revelations at least, another 20 if they want the other path they didn't buy, and some extra bucks for the remaining DLC maps that are playable in any of the paths (which are pretty useful, interesting or just amusing). They will be getting two extra full 3DS games out of it, so an extra 40 bucks is pretty good, but even then, it still looks and sounds fishy to me...
At least the game does amiibo relatively well, letting you recruit the Smash version of the Fire Emblem heroes, with some 4th wall breaking dialog to boot in some cases (specially with Odin, Lazward and Luna), and get some nice items.
https://kantopia.wordpress.com/2015/08/08/fire-emblem-fates-all-four-amiibo-event-dialogue-translations/
I guess this explains what Kamui is doing in Smash. XD

We really need more games like Smash that make use of multiple amiibo in a somewhat meaningful way, so I share your opinion.
Kimishima has stated several times now that they have plans to expand the usability of amiibo in 2016, so I'm hopeful that will be the case too.

There are a few problems with that though.
I will use Chibi-Robo as an example. I love the design of the little dude and, from what I have seen, the first game was the best one. However, they have tried expanding his fan base countless times with different formulas to no avail. Their conclusion by now is that they can't create an experience with Chibi-Robo that gets a large number of people interested in it, so the series has most likely been cancelled as we speak.
The same can be said about their "gold mine" of IP. If they can't figure out a way to make good games with that IP and how to effectively promote it, it doesn't matter that they have it.
Metroid is a good example of that too. It sells relatively well, but sales have declined over time like I showed you recently, and they haven't been able to figure out a formula for it that works, increases sales and is able to compete with other game series that usually come out at the same time, like Halo and stuff like that.
They also don't have enough people to work in everything at the same time and still keep DLC flowing an all that. I bet it's a pretty difficult management process for them.
Of course they can throw a bone to fans now and then, like they did with Earthbound and Earthbound Beginnings for instance, but on the other side they are a business too and sales numbers are what matters the most in the end.
And the way they have been riding on amiibo as a way to make a quick buck showcases that side of the deal better than anything.
I would love to see a continuation to Golden Sun, a new Advance Wars, an improved F-Zero and a return of Wave Race, as much as the next guy, but I don't see half ot that happening in the next 2 or 3 years at all.
Patience is a virtue in this regard, I guess. o.0'

I think many were operating under the hybrid idea, and a few thought it might be an handheld cause the 3DS is nearing the time of replacement, but for now a home console seems the most likely indeed.
I think that as long as they give it the same graphical capacity as the other two and an infrastructure that is easier to program and port too, they will be fine, even with third parties.
Please, just don't screw the controller this time... XD

In reply to <a href="https://nintendokusou.com/dec-21-to-27-nintendo-news-roundup#comment-8693">Eduardo</a>.

Yeah; I look forward to seeing how much more modern Nintendo becomes... let's just hope it doesn't turn into Slot Machines and Pay-to-play titles, or full priced titles with segments cut out as DLC with further micro-transactions on top of that. I think that's too modern -_-'
I look forward to seeing any improvements on amiibo uses. Hopefully different ways means substantial use in flagship titles; because my 61 amiibo have been sitting on the shelf for a while with minimal use. They look cool, but I also want some decent functionality, hopefully amiibo are a continual platform that will work with NX and whatever other near-future consoles Nintendo produces.

That links into our other comment thread; Nintendo could expand their range of IP, but what's the point when they have a gold mine of other old IP that desperately need new titles; and not just eShop Shovelware, fully fledged games.
As long as they periodically release a range of titles, keeping everyone happy, the company will continue to grow, modernising itself, we just need to hope that NX warrants all of the hype that it's generated and lives up to expectations and almost everything will be fine on the Nintendo Hardware +Software front. and yeah; the money importance definitely ties in with what I've just said! :D perfect. ^_^'

I thought everyone knew it was going to be a home console? xD - When I think dedicated gaming platform, I don't necessarily think of anything mobile. Eh; the rumour is neither here nor there, it's what we've seen before, and it's becoming what people expect.
Yeah; I look forward to seeing how much more modern Nintendo becomes… let’s just hope it doesn’t turn into Slot Machines and Pay-to-play titles, or full priced titles with segments cut out as DLC with further micro-transactions on top of that. I think that’s too modern -_-‘

That links into our other comment thread; Nintendo could expand their range of IP, but what’s the point when they have a gold mine of other old IP that desperately need new titles; and not just eShop Shovelware, fully fledged games.
As long as they periodically release a range of titles, keeping everyone happy, the company will continue to grow, modernising itself, we just need to hope that NX warrants all of the hype that it’s generated and lives up to expectations and almost everything will be fine on the Nintendo Hardware +Software front. and yeah; the money importance definitely ties in with what I’ve just said! 😀 perfect. ^_^’

Yeah, last weeks of the year, so nothing really new showing up lately... maybe in January/February, when we get a new pair of Pokémon games announced or something like that...

His message to investors is exciting simply because it's becoming more noticeable that they want to change to better fit in with the new trends overall.
They have been talking about using amiibos in more different ways in 2016, so I'm really curious as to what that means...
Also wish they would bring back some older IP, like The Mystery of Murasame Castle, Mach Rider and Ice Climber, because Takamaru and Mach Rider are just cool and Popo and Nana are adorable, there's no reason not to make use them, right!? :P
Moreover, please make sure to groom Pit and Palutena more, they should get a new game in the next gen systems at least... you don't want them to die again, do you, Nintendo... >_> (looking at you, Ninty...)
I have liked Kimishima since he said money wasn't the only or most important thing, because that basically confirms that he understands that smaller fanbases such as Metroid, F-Zero, Golden Sun, etc. also need some love now and then, you see? Now I'm just waiting to actually see the results of that statement... XD

By the way, you saw the NX at CES rumour, right?

Sounds interesting and believable. I'm more and more convinced that the NX is in fact a new home console. o.0'

Seems like a lot more of the same, a few cool things here and there, but again, more of the same.

Mr. Kimishima's message really makes me excited for the future, even though it's the typical public relations press release. Maybe it's just because he mentioned the theme park attractions; and I'm really excited for that. Although, seems like another 3-5 years before anything is physically started on that front.
The increased leverage-ing of IP has already been present, as we both know, since we've mentioned the new Mario products within the past weeks and I really love the last paragraph: ^ _ ^

"Nintendo will continue to flexibly transform itself by adapting to changing times while constantly valuing the spirit of originality based on the belief that the “true value of entertainment lies in its uniqueness” – and will continue to provide products and services that people will be surprised and delighted by."
