Regarding Shovel Knight, I’m under the impression this content will be released at the time they release the physical versions of the game!?
And I don’t think it has anything to do with Megaman, anyways. They said it would be something unexpected, if I recall correctly… <.<'

Shantae definitely holds more merit, but Shovel Knight shot up in popularity so quickly, and if they’re actually going by what fans want, I’m sure both of these characters *could* be added. Thinking about it though, Shovel Knight wouldn’t really fit the game… I’m sure Sakurai could make him work, but I’m just not seeing it atm.

Shovel Knight: They said a MEGA ton of game content will be added in the future (for the Nintendo versions)… which is interesting. With emphasis on MEGA… so I don’t know whether they’re just meaning there is going to be heaps of content, or if it involves Megaman (a capcom property as nintendo exclusive content?)…

K. Rool is a shoe in at this point in my mind, because I think he is going to have the most votes…
Shovel Knight would be interesting, but I still think Shantae has more merit over him!? :\
I can see it happen for one reason, though. They said the Shovel Knight release on Nintendo consoles would have something special they would announce later, and I’m assuming it will be the presence of a character like Link in the game, for example. If Nintendo is that willing to help them, it could improve the chances, but “I’m really not feeling it”! XD

Some interesting choices; I haven’t heard of a fair few of those characters before…

I feel as if King K. Rool, Shantae and Shovel Knight are likely… but I’m not really sure on why Nintendo would be inclined to add Shovel Knight… but Popularity can make a difference.(especially in Splatfests :P)
As for Inklings; they’ll be in the NeXt Smash Bros… if that happens.

As for any other characters, I really don’t have the creativity to think of which characters would work well in Smash… so I’m not sure xD

As things stand, I see Wolf making a comeback by the end of the year, at least, and maybe they will introduce a Rythm Heaven character since it was “a card in the deck” since the beginning of development anyways.
When it comes to the ballot, I feel like King K. Rool and Isaac have very good chances and would provide interesting playstyles, in addition to charming personalities.
The rest, I can only wonder, but if you ask me it seems to soon for the Inklings or Captain Toad to join, for example! o.O’
I think they will probably try to include a mix of new franchises with already represented ones, since when making new franchises they kind of have to add at least a stage and a couple of trophies from that series…
I intend to cover some of these characters in the Smash articles series, but here’s some of the ones I think would make sense, in addition to the two above:
From unrepresented series- Lip to represent Panel de Pon/Puzzle League (this character and series seriously needs to make a comeback and is more important than people realize. It has 9 freakin’ games! 9!); Infantry Soldier to represent the Wars series (another one that needs a new game and already has tons of them, 12 I think!?); and maybe Chibi-Robo (because of the recent push in his direction);
From represented series – Paper Mario (could be a different type of Mario); Dixie Kong (since she was deemed worthy in the past already); Impa, or maybe even Tetra (so we get a new Zelda character… I choose Tetra); Ridley (which isn’t happening); maybe Waddle Dee (to complete the Kirby square); and I would like to say a Kid Icarus villain, but it’s better to leave Medusa or Hades for next game…
There are a lot of retro characters that would be cool but I mainly hope they would add one and then revive its series next. – Takamaru would be perfect for this (since he completes the group of 1986 and could make for a very interesting game style); Mach Rider could be interesting; Mike Jones has moveset potential, but Star Tropics is rather forgotten; maybe Sukapon would be fun.
3rd parties I think we are done with, but here are some of the most logical/interesting characters: Jibanyan (Yo-kai Watch); Simon Belmont (Castlevania); Bomberman; Chocobo & Slime Duo (Final Fantasy & Dragon Quest); Bub & Bob (Bubble Bobble); Jack Frost (Shin Megami Tensei); Ryu Hayabusa (Koei Tecmo)
And when it comes to indie characters, the only one I can see joining the roster is Shantae. She has the history, the company has initiative to help and Nintendo seems to like her as a character too, since they promote her right next to their own eShop titles. Besides, her personality would fit right in, imo.
And that’s already a lot, although I have more characters listed, I don’t think they are likely, so I will leave it at that… o.O’

I would say it’s pretty likely that we will have at least one Smash character for each quarter of the year! o.O’
After looking through the trailers, they actually released Gengar in April, Charizard and Weavile were added in July, and Blaziken is scheduled for August!
It’s almost a monthly release for Pokkén, after all! XD

Seems like a pretty steady release schedule… I wonder if the fanservice Smash Characters will follow with the two-to-three month releases?

From what I have noticed, they seem to work on a playable character and a pair of support Pokémon to be released every two to three months, if memory doesn’t fail… o.O’

Maybe, the game doesn’t have that many playable characters to begin with!
Right now we have Pikachu, Lucario, Machamp, Gardevoir, Suicune, Gengar, Charizard, Weavile, and soon enough, Blaziken. That’s 9 characters, and I wouldn’t expect them to have much more characters than the current number of Pokémon types, so arround 20 max sounds right for a first game!? Maybe 15? o.O’

I assume that if they build up the characters slowly, by the time this possible NX version is done, all these ‘new’ characters will be released and theoretically all released. right? (I haven’t been keeping up with Pokkén Tournament at all)

Well, most cross-plat games that are worthwhile playing are on PC too, so why would you buy another console, if not for exclusives? o.O’

I mentioned Pokkén Tournament because Bandai Namco has shown interest in bringing it to Wii U already, but first they want to polish the arcade version.
The arcade version is out in Japan now, and Blaziken is being added in August, together with other support Pokémon, I suppose…
So I would say they want to slowly build the game in arcades first, then bring it to a Nintendo console later, in which case the NX would make the most sense, at the present time, I guess!? o.O’
