The video above first shows us how character creation works. Basically, the game asks you several questions like “what kind of powers do you believe in? (your own strength/friendship/God)”, “what is the biggest necessity in life? (money/knowledge/luck/love)” or “who do you fight for? (for those you love/for your homeland/for honor)”.
Depending on what you pick as your answers during this starting point, those choices will influence which class your character will belong to and what their initial stats will be. However, players will always be able to change classes later on.
After answering the various questions, the players in the video got a protagonist that is a level 1 character with the “Horse Rider” class.
After that, they move on to the starting point of the story. This is when the protagonist named Ales awakens and is greeted by a maid named Maya.
Later, they show off a little bit of gameplay, where Ales and Maya are on the battlefield. During said scene, they have no weapons and have to work their way around enemies from the Empire. Sugita points out that Maya should wear armor and Mafia Kajita comments on how the Empire’s soldier looks really cute.
After a conversation cutscene between the characters, Ales finds himself a sword and can now fight. The action begins soon after as you listen to a familiar Langrisser track right away. The gameplay seems to be more focused on the traditional strategy RPG side, with player and enemies taking turns to move and attack on the battlefield grid, similar to Fire Emblem, for instance.
Similar to past Langrisser games, there are events and conversations that take place after you make specific movements or take certain actions. Around the middle point of the video, we get to see a battle on a much larger scale, where there are more allies and enemies in combat at the same time.
Langrisser Re: Incarnation will release in Japan on July 23, 2015.
