Nindies Summer Jam

Graphic_NindiesSummerJamNew high-profile “Nindie” titles for the Wii U and 3DS eShop will be discounted by 10% in North America during their first week of launch, over the next several weeks. The developers will also share video stories about their project’s development, and curate a shelf in eShop which features some of their favorite games. All of this forms their new innitiative in partnership with Nintendo, the “#Nindies Summer Jam”.

Here’s a look at some of the main titles, the release schedule, and a trailer for the innitiative.

The city is protected by an organization called “The Peacekeepers League” and everything is swell except that it’s under attack by a robot army lead by professor Darnacus Damnation! Or is it… ? Earthlock: Festival of Magic

earthlockSnowCastle Games is currently in the final stages of development of Earthlock: Festival of Magic. While the Wii U version apparently won’t be the first one out of the gate, the team is determined to release it as soon as possible. Here’s their statement from their latest Kickstarter update:

We are dead set on getting the game out on Wii U. We believe our backers deserve it and on the contrary to what some say, we also believe there is still a Wii U market worth pursuing. How long it takes we don’t know, but we really, really want to launch on Wii U in good time before the holiday season. (That means November)

FAST Racing Neo: Neo Future Pack

Shin’en is almost ready to release its new DLC for FAST Racing Neo, which adds 8 new tracks, 10 new vehicles, and 18 new audio tracks. A new trailer showing these upcoming features can be found below.

Martin Sauter from Shin’en also recently explained to Nintendo World Report at Gamescom why the studio ended up pursuing DLC. He said:

“I said from the start we would love to support FAST Racing NEO in the future. We were discussing it in the office, and it was totally clear that when the game came out and the reception was good that we’d keep working on that. We started fixing issues, adding minimaps, adding stuff we found, it was pretty clear we wanted to go with DLC, make something because the demand was so heated. We were asked if there were new tracks coming, Nintendo approached us and asked “Is there interest in a physical release”.”

And in a recent interview with Nintendon.com, Shin’en Multimedia stated that while their next project is a secret, it will be on a Nintendo console.

The studio was asked what it would like to do after FAST Racing Neo. In response, Shin’en said:

The problem is I can’t talk about it. I’d really like to talk about it, but if I say anything…. let me put it this way: we’re very happy to work with Nintendo, we’ll keep doing it and our next project will be with them. We’re also carrying out new experiments and creating new prototypes, but I can’t talk about this either, because they’re so deep in their initial stage that there would be no point talking about it now.

The Legend of Kusakari

Librage, the developers of The Legend of Kusakari, were recently interviewed by the game’s publisher, Nnooo, which talked with them about their inspirations for the title, confirming that their game is indeed inspired by the Legend of Zelda series. The team also elaborated on their interaction with Nintendo and how they felt about such clear inspirations.

You can find the full interview over here.

Besides this, since the game is now out on the eShop, here’s some gameplay footage to show you what it’s all about.

World to the West
