June 27 to July 3 Nintendo News Roundup

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild

Nintendo of Europe president Satoru Shibata recently shared a brief message about his first impressions while playing The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild on Nintendo of Spain’s Youtube Channel. You can find the video below:

Besidesd that, DigitalFoundry has uploaded a second analysis on The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. This time it’s more of discussion and impressions video, based on what they could play of the game. Give it a watch below:

Hyrule Warriors Legends

Hyrule Warriors and Hyrule Warriors Legends have now received the new updates and DLC. Wii U is now on version 1.10.0, while 3DS is now on version 1.4.0.

The patch notes for Wii U state that adjustments were made to some of the characters, and some bugs were fixed. On 3DS, the level cap was increased, medals and fairies were added, rupees earned through StreetPass Link and characters were adjusted, and various bugs were addressed.

The Link’s Awakening Pack, is available on both of Nintendo’s platforms. It includes Marin, the boots weapon for Linkle, 16 new costumes, plus 16 new My Fairy costume pieces and an Adventure Mode map specifically on 3DS.

Koei Tecmo has released a new extended trailer for this content, and you can also find some gameplay footage by GameXplain below:

Besides this, Hyrule Warriors and Hyrule Warriors Legends will be receiving two more DLC packs in the months ahead. One based on Phantom Hourglass and Spirit Tracks is due in September, while another dedicated to A Link Between Worlds is scheduled for November.

Meanwhile, Ramdom Talking Bush has posted the newest sprites in the game online, and due to some placeholder mugshots we now know that the missing characters are the following:

– Tゼルダ – (T Zelda – likely Toon Zelda)
– ラヴィオ (Ravio)
– ユガ (Yuga)

The Phantom Hourglass/Spirit Tracks pack is getting one character, and two more will be released in the A Link Between Worlds pack. “T Zelda” would be for the former and may refer to Princess Zelda from Spirit Tracks. Ravio and Yuga are both from A Link Between Worlds like you probably already know.

Pokémon Sun & Moon

The Pokémon Company has shared a big amount of new information and gameplay footage from Pokémon Sun & Moon.

First, we have a couple new trailers (for Japan and the West) showing off seven new pokémon, and second, we have a bit of new footage shown at the Hong Kong VGC 2016 which covers Rockruff and Komala, which had previously been revealed on CoroCoro. You can take a look at the videos below:

And here’s what The Pokémon Company had to say about the newly revealed pokémon:

London, United Kingdom – July 1, 2016 – The Pokémon Company International and Nintendo have revealed new Pokémon that can be found in the highly anticipated Pokémon Sun and Pokémon Moon video games, available exclusively on the Nintendo 3DS family of systems. These Alola region Pokémon will appear in the latest generation of Pokémon video games which will launch in Europe on November 23.

A new trailer that showcases all of these amazing Pokémon and new gameplay in action can be found here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FcXvaWWqRQ4

The newly revealed Pokémon include:

Name: Tapu Koko
Type: Electric/Fairy
Tapu Koko is the guardian deity of Melemele Island, one of the islands of the Alola region. Tapu Koko’s Ability is Electric Surge, an Ability which has never been seen before. The Electric Surge Ability fills the field around the Pokémon’s feet with electricity when it appears, raising the power of any Electric-type moves for Pokémon on the ground and preventing any Pokémon from falling asleep.

Name: Charjabug
Type: Bug/Electric
Charjabug is the first Evolution of Grubbin, a new Alola region Pokémon revealed last month. Charjabug’s Battery Ability allows it to raise the power of allies’ special moves.

Name: Vikavolt
Type: Bug/Electric
Vikavolt, the Evolution of Charjabug, is like a fortress that zooms through the forest, using its huge jaws to control a beam of electricity which it can fire from its mouth.

Name: Drampa
Type: Normal/Dragon
Drampa are dragons that live alone in the mountains 10,000 feet above sea level. With Drampa’s Berserk Ability, this Pokémon’s Special Attack stat will go up by one when its HP drops below half.

Name: Bruxish
Type: Water/Psychic
Bruxish emits a strong psychic power from the protuberance on its head while grinding its teeth loudly. Some Bruxish have the new Dazzling Ability which prevents opponents from using priority moves that normally strike first.

Name: Cutiefly
Type: Bug/Fairy
Cutiefly can detect the auras of living things, including people, Pokémon and plants. They seek out flowers by the colour and brightness of their auras, and then they gather the nectar and pollen.

Name: Togedemaru
Type: Electric/Steel
Togedemaru is the Roly-Poly Pokémon which gathers electricity and stores it. The long needle that grows from the back of its head works as a lightning rod to attract electricity.

Name: Rockruff
Type: Rock
Rockruff has an excellent sense of smell, and once it has smelled an odour, it doesn’t forget it. There are tales of these Pokémon getting separated from their Trainers, then using the faintest traces of their scent to track them for days until they are reunited.

Name: Komala
Type: Normal
No one has ever seen a Komala awake. It eats, travels and even battles while sound asleep. According to ancient people, its saliva can be used as medicine for the sick or sleepless. Komala has the Comatose Ability which keeps it perpetually in a drowsing state, preventing it from getting any other status conditions.

New forms of the Legendary Pokémon Zygarde will appear for the first time in Pokémon Sun and Pokémon Moon. Zygarde is made up of a multitude of cell-like components and, depending on how many of them it has gathered together, its appearance changes.

Name: Zygarde 50% Forme
Type: Dragon/Ground
Zygarde believes it has a duty to protect the ecosystem, and it monitors the Pokémon ecosystem to ensure that the ecosystem is not disrupted. While the power it possesses is overwhelming, this form contains only 50% of Zygarde’s cells. A Zygarde 10% or Zygarde 50% with the Power Construct Ability will be able to change into its Complete Forme during battle if its HP drops below half.

Name: Zygarde 10% Forme
Type: Dragon/Ground
When an emergency occurs, this form can take action separately from Zygarde 50% Forme, which comprises its main body. Thousand Arrows is a special move that only Zygarde can learn. It’s a Ground-type move that can also do damage to Flying types and to Pokémon with the Levitate Ability. After being hit by this move, Flying types and Pokémon with the Levitate Ability will continue to take damage from other Ground-type moves used in subsequent turns. Thousand Waves is also a move that only Zygarde can learn. This move makes it impossible for an opponent to flee or be swapped out of battle.

Name: Zygarde Complete Forme
Type: Dragon/Ground
Zygarde’s completed form is specialized for battle, enabling Zygarde to fight with its full power and fulfill its duty of protecting the Pokémon ecosystem. Core Enforcer is a move that only Zygarde can learn, and it can erase the Abilities of any opponents that have already used a move on the same turn that it’s used.

Pokémon X & Y, Pokémon Omega Ruby & Alpha Sapphire

Shaymin is now available as the latest 20th Anniversary Mystery Gift Mythical Pokémon distribution for Pokémon X & Y, and Pokémon Omega Ruby & Alpha Sapphire. The distribution ends on July 24.

Pokkén Tournament

The arcade version of Pokkén Tournament will be getting a major update on July 20, adding Garchomp, Braixen, and Shadow Mewtwo. On top of this, it sounds like a new character be added though.

A broadcast on Niconico during the middle of July will be covering the update. Additionally, based on the official image below, it’s implied that a new fighter will be revealed.

pokken-tease-1The Niconico stream will air on July 14 at the following times:

– 4 AM PT
– 7 AM ET
– 12 PM in the UK
– 1 PM in Europe

Although this news pertains specifically to the arcade version of Pokkédn Tournament, one would think that the new fighter would be made available in the Wii U version soon after as well. And dataminers have recently found references to Scizor, Darkrai, and Empoleon in the latest update, which doesn’t necessarily confirm that one of these three will be announced, but does lend some credence to the possibility of it happening.

Pokémon GO

pokemon-go-1Polygon recently interviewed J.C. Smith, The Pokémon Company’s senior director of consumer marketing, and Niantic CEO John Hanke, and discussed with them various topics about Pokémon GO. Among these topics are the aim of Pokémon GO, which isn’t to recreate the experience of the main series games, and the importance of accessibility to both series veterans and newcomers. You can find the interview over here, if you want to give it a look.

Here’s what Hirata wrote:

“Come to think of it, Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE release date is this week on 24th isn’t it! For various reasons we had to change some outfits, contents of events and vocals, but I think the outfits of the overseas version are quite cute! If you live overseas and own a Wii U by all means buy the game!”

Besides that, GameSpot interview Atlus producer Shinjiro Takata and Nintendo designer Hitoshi Yamagami, and the two talked about various topics such as localization and what made Nintendo and Wii U a good fit for the project. You can read the full interview here.

Camp Miiverse will be held for a week and is featuring popular games for Wii U/3DS. For each competition, a side in a team will be chosen. Mario Kart 7, Mario Kart 8, and Splatoon are just some of the titles that will be featured during Camp Miiverse week.

Here’s the full notice from Miiverse:

Hey Miiverse,

Playing games this summer? Camp Miiverse is coming back on July 14th! This week-long event will feature events based on popular Nintendo 3DS and Wii U games. And with every camp competition, we’ll play choosing a side in a team – so choose wisely.

And new for this year, we want you to help shape our camp!

We will be featuring popular games like Mario Kart 7, Mario Kart 8 and Splatoon, but let us know if you have any great ideas on what teams should play against each other, and what game you would like to see featured and the challenge.

If you let us know your thoughts in the comments below, you might see your idea being used in this summer’s Camp Miiverse!

Here are the questions:
1.) What team theme would work for this year? (like Team Mario vs. Team Link)
2.) What Wii U game, and its challenge do you think will be fun? (example: finish 1-1 in Super Mario Bros. with your fastest time)
3.) What Nintendo 3DS game and challenge do you think would be fun?

Looking forward to hearing your thoughts! Anyone with a Miiverse access will be able to join the camp beginning July 14th. All you have to do is access the Camp Miiverse community and participate in the challenges during camping season. Happy camping!
