Monster Hunter X July 11 Feature

New Monster Hunter X Details

Some of the information contained in this week’s issue of Famitsu has started to leak out, and mixed in it is a number of new details from Monster Hunter X.

This issue takes a look at the various Hunting Styles available in the game, in addition to two monsters present in the game, Gamut and Hororo-Horuru.

Here’s a rundown of the details.

Hunting Styles:

– Guild Style: a well-balanced and basic Hunting Style. This Style is the closest to how you’ve played in past Monster Hunter titles;

– Striker Style: an attack-minded Style that specializes in Hunting Arts. It isn’t as technical, but it will allow you to setup up to three Hunting Arts;

– Aerial Style: a Style that lets you freely attack in mid-air. These attacks are done by using the monster as a platform to pull off a special jump attack;

– Bushido Style: evade monster attacks for a chance to perform powerful counter moves. It specializes in turning a dangerous moment into an opportunity, but isn’t recommended for beginners.

Gamut:

Gamuts are Fanged Beast monsters and aggressive herbivores. They have long trunks and large bodies that they use to attack their foes. Gamuts can suck you up with their trunks, use breath attacks that cover a wide area or launch rocks with precision.

Hororo-Horuru:

Hororo-Horuru is a new Bird Wyvern-type monster that has a preference for dark places. It uses its sharp claws on its wings and its feet to strike enemies from above. They also have special scales inside their feathers that put you in an unconscious state upon inhaling them, making you temporarily unable to move. The Hororo-Horuru can shoot giant laser-like sound wave attacks that will leave you in a “Pinch” status if you get hit by them. It’s currently unclear what this status condition actually means.
