Monster Hunter Stories

The latest issue of Famitsu revealed a few more details about Monster Hunter Stories just before the game’s release in Japan.

First, the magazine talks about Kupni Village. It’s an idyllic village where many kinds of felynes live. Since it has a warm temperature, many of them also visit for vacations. On the sea there are also two rocks that are shaped after felynes.

Village Chief Matar is the chief of Kupni Village. She’s a wyverian who warmly looks after the felynes. She has both the personality of a leader and the kindness of a mother.

Hanako met Nabiru thanks to a certain happening. She can understand Nabiru well, as the latter tends to be misunderstood easily (as in other felynes tend to misunderstand Nabiru).

Torao and Kagishippo are two felynes who also live in Kupni Village just like Hanako. Torao has a scar on his forehead and looks like a gang leader, and Kagishippo is his underling. They always move around together as a pair.

Finally, it’s worth noting that a lot of felynes who live in Kupni Village do recognize Nabiru, and this place seems to be very deeply related to him. Torao and Kagishippo do not seem to like Nabiru due to a certain happening in the past. The reasons why the protagonist and Nabiru get to visit this village is unclear as of now.

You can find some screenshots associated to these Famitsu details in the gallery below.

Finally, Capcom has uploaded the opening movie and several commercials for Monster Hunter Stories. You can find those below, with another look at the amiibo packaging.

River City: Tokyo Rumble

The special physical version of River City: Tokyo Rumble was recently put up on Natsume’s Amazon store, and included a limited edition keychain. However, it soon sold out, but Natsume is working on a restock as soon as possible. A specific date hasn’t been determined, but it’ll be up on the company’s Amazon store over here as soon as more copies are available.

river-city-keychainThe publisher is quite happy, as sales have “well exceeded what we thought the demand would be for physical copies”. Natsume also apologized to those who aren’t able to purchase a copy, but you probably should keep an eye on that Amazon page for the restock if you want a copy too.

Here’s the news from Natsume:

Today is the launch day of the long-awaited River City: Tokyo Rumble. Finally, River City is back! The game is available digitally on the Nintendo eShop and physically at select retailers, such as Crunchyroll.com, Gamefly.com, and GameQuestDirect.com. It is also available in Canada with Videogameplus.ca.

Unfortunately Natsume’s Amazon store is currently sold out. Sales of the game well exceeded what we thought the demand would be for physical copies. While we’re excited about how much enthusiasm there was for the physical release, we know that a lot of you are disappointed you can’t buy the game right now, and for that, we are very sorry.

However, we’re working on restocking the physical version, right now. While we don’t have an estimate when these will arrive and go on sale yet, they will go directly to Amazon so they can be up for sale as quickly as possible. These copies will also have the Kunio keychain!

We thank everyone for the support that brought about a physical run of River City: Tokyo Rumble. Your voices were heard, and were making it happen.

Besides that, we now have some direct-feed footage from the English version thanks to UpUpDownDown, which you can watch in the two videos below.

Azure Striker Gunvolt 2 was released on the European eShop during the week, but the Striker Pack doesn’t have a release date yet, but seeing as it has been rated, it probably shouldn’t take much longer.

Finally, we also have a trailer for the Azure Striker Gunvolt OVA, which you can watch below.

gurumin-party-timeRPG Maker Fes

RPG Maker Fes, the latest entry in the RPG Maker series, will be released in Japan on November 24th, so Kadokawa Games has now released some new info about it, which Gematsu has translated.

First, you will be able to work on and save up to 16 RPGs at the same time. This should leave plenty of room for experimentation, since if you get stuck on one project you can just save it for later and work on the next one. These will be saved on your 3DS’ SD card.

The next feature meantioned is pretty much a given for game development, but Kadokawa Games nonetheless mentions that RPG Maker Fes allows you to set variables, conditions and flags for a variety of things. You can edit when and how certain events will occur in your game, what special skills will do, and you can set the parameters and stats of monsters, items and equipment, as usual.

RPG Maker Fes also has several preset characters and monsters that you can use in your game if you need help getting started.

The final details were already announced during the latest Nintendo Direct in Japan, it being that the games you create will be free to everyone. A special software called “RPG Maker Fes Player” will be released for free on the 3DS eShop, allowing everyone to play the games others have created with RPG Maker Fes, even if they don’t own RPG Maker Fes themselves.
